Day 1
Fly from the UK to Muscat, where you’ll be met and transferred to your Muscat hotel, chosen from our selected portfolio, for a stay of three nights.
Day 2
You have a private tour of the city, including the Sultan’s Palace and National Museum, The Grand Mosque and Muttrah souq.
Day 3
Head out for a boat trip today to try and spot some dolphins and enjoy the coastal scenery around Muscat.
Day 4
Head to Muscat Airport in time for the morning flight to the Musandam Peninsula. On arrival you'll have a tour of the mountains and isolated villages, and then be taken to one of our recommended Musandam hotels for a 2 night stay.
Day 5
Enjoy a dhow cruise into the remote fjords, spotting a few dolphins along the way if you’re lucky.
Day 6
You'll fly back to Muscat this morning, from where you then start your explorations of the interior of the country as you head out to the mountains around Nizwa through the Sumail Gap, where you stay for 3 nights.
Day 7
Spend the day in the mountains, marvelling at Wadi Ghul, Oman’s “Grand Canyon”, visiting dramatically-perched mountain villages like Misfah.
Day 8
The focus today is on the imposing forts and towns of the interior. Try to be here on a Friday for the livestock auction at Nizwa souq, in the shadow of the vast fort, and head out to Jabreen fort, famous for its painted ceilings, stopping on the way to admire the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bahla fort.
Day 9
You head for the desert today, cresting dunes in the stunning landscape of the Wahiba Sands, where you spend the night in one of our recommended desert camps.
Day 10
The day begins with a visit to the small but fascinating villages of Jalaan Bani Bu Ali and Jalaan Bani Bu Hassan, before you head to Sur and Ras al-Jinz where you spend the night in one of our portfolio of local hotels. In the evening you venture onto the beach with a local guide to watch turtles nesting.
Day 11
Today you hit the coastal road from Sur back to Muscat, passing palm-lined rivers in steep canyons on one of Oman's great drives. This afternoon you fly down to Salalah, where you’ll either pick up a new hire car, or be collected and taken to one of our recommended Dhofar hotels for a 4 night stay.
Day 12
There is plenty to see and do in southern Oman. You could visit Taqah and Mirbat, whilst Mughsayl beach, with its blowholes, is always a popular option.
Day 13
A second day to explore Salalah - there are some truly great drives, including the journey out to the frankincense trees at Wadi Dawkah.
Day 14
A final day to relax and take in all that you have seen.
Day 15
Self-drivers drop their car at the airport today; otherwise you have a private transfer to the airport in time for your flight home.

Everything we do is tailor-made; our itineraries are just suggestions to give you an idea of what is possible. Please contact us so we can tailor the perfect holiday exclusively for you.

Something we often hear from our clients when planning the trip, is that they’d like to see as much as possible as they do not intend to return to the country. Whilst we would always argue that Oman has plenty on offer to justify a second or third visit (members of the team here have racked up dozens, if not hundreds of wonderful visits between them), being able to offer a ‘Grand Tour’ itinerary is no bad thing. The idea with this trip is to leave as few stones unturned as possible, so you can expect to see all the iconic highlights as well as our favourite quirky suggestions. Travelling at a pace that will leave you inspired and exhilarated as opposed to exhausted, the Oman In-Depth itinerary is a perfect way to see the complete parade of wonders that Oman has to offer.
