Day 1
Departing the UK, you fly overnight to Dubai.
Day 2
On arrival into Dubai, you are greeted by your private driver and transferred across the border into Musandam Peninsula for your 2 night stay. Time permitting, you may wish to have a tour of the mountains and isolated villages.
Day 3
Enjoy a dhow cruise into the remote fjords, spotting a few dolphins along the way if you’re lucky.
Day 4
You'll fly onto Muscat today (if you have the later departing flight, then you can fill your morning with a tour of the villages and mountains). You meet your driver at the airport and transfer to your Muscat hotel for 3 nights.
Day 5
You have a private tour of the city, including the Sultan’s Palace and National Museum, The Grand Mosque and Muttrah souq.
Day 6
Head out for a boat trip today to try and spot some dolphins and enjoy the coastal scenery around Muscat.
Day 7
You head out of Muscat travelling south along the coast, stopping at the Bimmah Sinkhole and natural pools or Wadi Tiwi and Shab. You'll arrive at Raz AL Jinz where you spend the night. In the evening you venture onto the beach with a local guide in search of the turtles.
Day 8
Heading towards the Wahiba Sands, you visit the pools of Wadi Bani Khalid and then turn east for a trip through the desert, arriving at your camp for a 1 night stay.
Day 9
After breakfast, your journey continues into Nizwa and surrounding mountains, enroute you may wish to stop at the Oman Across Ages Museum which celebrates the creation of a nation. You'll arrive at your hotel for a 3 night stay. There are a choice of accommodations to choose from both in Nizwa and up in the mountains.
Day 10
Spend the day in the mountains, marvelling at Wadi Ghul, Oman’s “Grand Canyon”, visiting dramatically-perched mountain villages like Misfah.
Day 11
The focus today is on the imposing forts and towns of the interior. Try to be here on a Friday for the livestock auction at Nizwa souq, in the shadow of the vast fort, and head out to Jabreen fort, famous for its painted ceilings, stopping on the way to admire the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bahla fort.
Day 12
Today you return to Muscat for your flight down to Salalah, where you’ll either pick up a new hire car, or be collected and taken to one of our recommended Dhofar hotels for a 4 night stay.
Day 13
There is plenty to see and do in southern Oman. You could visit Taqah and Mirbat, whilst Mughsayl beach, with its blowholes, is always a popular option.
Day 14
A second day to explore Salalah - there are some truly great drives, including the journey out to the frankincense trees at Wadi Dawkah.
Day 15
A final day to relax and take in all that you have seen.
Day 16
Self-drivers drop their car at the airport today; otherwise you have a private transfer to the airport in time for your flight home.

Everything we do is tailor-made; our itineraries are just suggestions to give you an idea of what is possible. Please contact us so we can tailor the perfect holiday exclusively for you.

Something we often hear from our clients when planning the trip is that they’d like to see as much as possible as they do not intend to return to the country. Whilst we would always argue that Oman has plenty on offer to justify a second or third visit (members of the team here have racked up dozens, if not hundreds of wonderful visits between them), being able to offer a ‘Grand Tour’ itinerary is no bad thing. The idea with this trip is to leave as few stones unturned as possible, so you can expect to see all the iconic highlights as well as our favourite quirky suggestions. Travelling at a pace that will leave you inspired and exhilarated as opposed to exhausted, the Oman In-Depth itinerary is a perfect way to see the complete parade of wonders that Oman has to offer.
