Day 1
Departing the UK, you fly overnight to Muscat. For direct flights you have Oman Air and for less expensive options you can fly indirect via one of the Middle Eastern hubs.
Day 2
On arrival into Muscat, if you’re self-driving your saloon car will be ready to collect from the airport; otherwise you’ll meet your driver-guide and then together you make your way through the impressive Sumail Gap or via the mountain trail of Wadi Bani Awf to reach Nizwa and the interior, spending three nights in one of our preferred hotels in the region.
Day 3
Spend the day in the mountains, marvelling at Wadi Ghul, Oman’s “Grand Canyon”, visiting dramatically-perched mountain villages like Misfah and one of Oman's oldest and most traditional villages Al Hamra.
Day 4
The focus today is on the imposing forts and towns of the interior – most notably Nizwa, Jabreen and the UNESCO-recognised Bahla. Try to be here on a Friday for the livestock auction at Nizwa.
Day 5
Driving onto the desert, you might wish to stop at the Oman Across Ages Museum which celebrates the creation of a nation. Spend the night in one of our recommended desert camps.
Day 6
You head out of the desert first stopping at the natural waters of Wadi Bani Khalid, before you hit the coastal road back to Muscat, passing palm-lined rivers in steep canyons at Wadi Shab and Tiwi, as well as taking the time to peer over the rim of the sinkhole at Bimah. You have a three night stay in Muscat.
Day 7
You have a private tour of the city, including the Sultan’s Palace, The Grand Mosque and Muttrah souq.
Day 8
Spend the day relaxing within your hotel, making the most of the beach and/ or swimming pools.
Day 9
Head to Muscat Airport in time for the morning flight to the Musandam Peninsula. You’ll be collected and taken to one of our recommended Musandam hotels for a 3 night stay.
Day 10
Take a guided tour around the mountains and villages of the peninsula.
Day 11
Enjoy a dhow cruise into the remote fjords, spotting a few dolphins along the way if you’re lucky.
Day 12
You'll be met by your driver for a private transfer across the border to Dubai airport.

Everything we do is tailor-made; our itineraries are just suggestions to give you an idea of what is possible. Please contact us so we can tailor the perfect holiday exclusively for you.

Musandam, the geographic oddity thrust into the Strait of Hormuz, an enclave of Omani territory surrounded by the UAE, is a place of steep mountains, remote villages and sinuous fjords, unlike anywhere else in Oman. The 21st century intrudes only in the guise of luxury beach retreats, and after exploring some of the rest of the country, Musandam is the perfect way to cap off your Omani adventure.

3 nights Nizwa and the mountains – 1 night Wahiba Sands – 3 nights Muscat – 3 nights Musandam Peninsula
