Day 1
Departing the UK, you fly overnight to Muscat. For direct flights you have Oman Air and for less expensive options you can fly indirect via one of the Middle Eastern hubs.
Day 2
On arrival at Muscat, you are greeted by your private driver and transferred to your hotel for a two night stay. There are a number of hotels to choose from, just ask your specialsit what style of accommodation you prefer.
Day 3
You have a private tour of the city, including the Sultan’s Palace, The Grand Mosque and Muttrah souq.
Day 4
Head north to the Batinah Plain and the forts of Rostaq and Nakhl before traversing the Hajar Mountains through dramatic Wadi Bani Awf. Alternatively, if self-driving you'll take the simpler Sumail gap route. Spend three nights in the Nizwa area.
Day 5
Spend the day in the mountains, marvelling at Wadi Ghul, Oman’s “Grand Canyon” and visiting dramatically-perched mountain villages like Misfah.
Day 6
The focus today is on the imposing forts and towns of the interior – most notably Nizwa, Jabreen and the UNESCO-recognised Bahla. Try to be here on a Friday for the livestock auction at Nizwa.
Day 7
You head for the desert today, cresting dunes in the sweeping Wahiba Sands. Spend the night in one of our recommended desert camps.
Day 8
Head back to Muscat via the pools at Wadi Bani Khalid and Sur town before hitting the coastal road. During this journey you’ll pass palm-lined rivers at Wadi Shab and Tiwi, and peer into Bimmah sinkhole. You'll spend a final two nights relaxing at one of the many beachside hotels.
Day 9
Spend the day relaxing within your hotel, making the most of the beach and/ or swimming pools.
Day 10
You have a private transfer to the airport in time for your flight home.

The heart of Oman’s appeal lies in the combination of stunning natural scenery, an attractive and preserved heritage, and a unique, well-managed blend of the ancient and modern Arabian worlds. The good news is that much of this diversity is close together; you can be in the heart of bustling Muscat then in the space of a few hours’ drive find yourself in the back and beyond in the mountains. This of course means that you don’t have to spend too long in Oman, or spend hours on end in the car each day, to see many of the country’s greatest highlights.

This tour showcases all of this, starting with two days in the capital, Muscat, before working through the forts, mountains and deserts of the interior, finishing back in Muscat for a relaxing end to your trip. A nice way to do it is to pack some culture into the first few days in Muscat and leave the final section at a beach hotel, a relaxing way of finishing an otherwise jam-packed, thrilling trip.

2 nights Muscat – 3 nights Nizwa and the mountains – 1 night Wahiba Sands – 2 nights Muscat
