GENTLE OMAN (8 days from £1,345 per person) (Ref. GLO)

Indicative cost including flights  from the UK (2 people):

  • £1,345pp. Low season, standard hotels, self-driving.

  • £2,295pp. High season, superior hotels, guided.

Whilst some of Oman’s attractions require a 4x4 and a rugged attitude to travel, this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Luckily plenty of the country can be seen from the comfort of a saloon car, including all of the capital, Muscat, the towns of the interior, and even the viewpoint over Oman’s “Grand Canyon”, Wadi Ghul, can be reached on a tarmac road. On this trip, you only need go off-road to explore the Wahiba Sands, a smooth, gentle off-roading experience.

This is just a suggested itinerary; please contact us so we can tailor the perfect holiday exclusively for you.

Day 1: Fly from the UK to Muscat, where you’ll be met and transferred to your Muscat hotel, chosen from our selected portfolio, for a stay of three nights.

Day 2: You have a private tour of the city, including the Sultan’s Palace, The Grand Mosque and Muttrah souq.

Day 3: Free to relax at the hotel.

Day 4: If you’re self-driving your saloon car will be delivered to the hotel today; otherwise you’ll be collected by your driver. You cut through the impressive Sumail Gap in the Hajar Mountains to reach Nizwa and the interior, spending two nights in one of our preferred hotels in the region.

Day 5: Try to be here on a Friday for the livestock auction at Nizwa souq, in the shadow of the vast fort, and head up to the plateau overlooking Wadi Ghul, as well as visiting the impressive Al-Hoota Cave.

Day 6: Today you drive westwards towards the Wahiba Sands; on the fringe of the desert you’ll be met by a 4x4 from one of our selected desert camps who’ll take you out for a memorable desert adventure and overnight stay.

Day 7: The day begins with a visit to the small but fascinating villages of Jalaan Bani Bu Ali and Jalaan Bani Bu Hassan, before you hit the coastal road from Sur back to Muscat, passing palm-lined rivers in steep canyons at Wadi Shab and Tiwi, as well as taking the time to peer over the rim of the sinkhole at Bimah. You have a final night in a Muscat hotel.

Day 8: Self-drivers drop their car at the airport today; otherwise you have a private transfer to the airport in time for your flight home.
